October 15-17th 2010
175 Miles in 3 days, from Irish Sea to North Sea!

Cost £30 Entry Fee plus £125 Accommodation and Transport

At the start of October we're taking a team of intermediate cyclists on one of the most famous cycling routes in the country, the span style="color: blueviolet">C2C Hadrian's Wall route from Ravenglass to Tynemouth. We're doing it to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society. The Parkinson's Disease Society is the leading charity dedicated to supporting all people with Parkinson's, their families, friends and carers. • We're leaving from Xscape Castleford at 8.30pm on a Thursday evening in early October by Rock Tour Bus so that we can get to the start point at Ravenglass in time for a nights sleep before we have to start cycling!

  • We start early on Friday morning with a traditional dip of the back wheels in the Irish sea, and then head off for Silloth, a little over 53 miles away, where we stay for the night in the tour bus. The sight of Silloth will come as a welcome relief for the riders!

  • Saturday morning arrives and we'll set off for Haltwhistle some 64 miles away. This will be the toughest day of the 3 as we cycle (or walk!) up some pretty steep climbs including the Banks and Greenhead. We'll stop for numerous photo opportunities..

  • After another nights sleep we'll set off for Tynemouth, approximately 57 miles away. After last night's descent into the South Tyne valley at Haltwhistle, the route undulates to Bardon Mill where it climbs steadily up the north flank of the South Tyne valley to a summit at Smith's Shield before a thrilling descent to Vindolanda, which must be paid for by a very stiff climb up to the highest summit of Hadrian's Cycleway at Crindledykes - 256 metres above sea level. The last 23 miles are a nice gradual downhill run to the coast where we'll dip our front wheels into the North Sea before we rush to the nearest fish and chip shop!!
