* Costs: £25 Entry Fee plus approximately £195 accommodation and transportation fee (which includes return ferry crossings from Hull to Rotterdam including cabin and two nights stay in a central Amsterdam hostel) and all food for the trip except for the evenings in Amsterdam where you'll no doubt want to fend for yourselves! *

Check out this amazing trip!   It is a 250-mile (ish!), 5-day journey to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

We took a 65-strong novice ladies team to Amsterdam and back in 2008 and we're taking another massive team in 2009!

After the extraordinary 2008 event when we managed to raise over £38,000 and attracted over a dozen corporate sponsors we were hoping to make the 2009 all-female event just as good, if not better! We want to raise enough money to pay for over a month's worth of Marie Curie Nursing care in the North East Region.

Due to popular demand, we're including an extra day (a day of rest!) in Amsterdam on this trip so that you can relax and spend the day exploring all of the wonders that this amazing city has to offer! You'll be able to recharge your batteries ready for the return trip.

Take a look at photo's from the 2007 trip.

    Find out about Marie Curie!
  • On Friday 12th June we'll set off from York and head for Hull, some 60 miles away where our overnight ferry to Rotterdam awaits. We'll stop for a pub buffet lunch in Market Weighton. Once we arrive at the docks we'll check-in, find our rooms, have a quick shower and get changed ready to go to the all-you-can-eat buffet for some food before heading to the entertainment lounge to make fools of ourselves on the dancefloor!

  • We'll wake up on Saturday to find ourselves in beautiful Holland, where cyclists are treated like gods and car drivers actually give way to you no matter what! We'll ride up through the countryside, stop for a quick lunch and a paddle in the sea at the beautiful beach resort at Catwijk (packed lunch provided) and then head onwards to Amsterdam where we'll stay in a fabulous hostel near the city centre so that the more curious of the riders can explore!

  • On Sunday you'll have the whole day to yourselves to explore the magnificant city of Amsterdam. You could visit the musuems, take a canal trip, find a nice spot for some lunch (packup is actually provided by the hostel in with the cost of the trip!), have a few drinks in the multitude of bars and then venture into the back streets on the evening if you're curious!! Remember to get an early night though as you'll be up early in the morning!

  • Monday morning will see the start of one of the most scenic days of the entire trip as we head back to Rotterdam through the centre of Holland stopping for lunch by the lake at Valkensburg Meer (packed lunch provided). The riders will be amazed at the Windmills and canals as we pass through small towns and large cities before arriving back at the Ferry in time for our return journey. Once again, we'll get to eat, drink and boogie the night away, then collapse in a heap with a beer in one hand and a plastic windmill in the other before being gently rocked to sleep in our cabins!

  • Finally we'll be back in the UK on Tuesday with an easy ride back to York and the finish line! We'll stop at a pub for a buffet lunch in Howden before completing this amazing ride. We'll laugh at the people who swore that we wouldn't be able to make it and beam at the awaiting family members and friends! We'll make some great friends on this trip and you'll soon be asking if you can take part in Amsterdame2010!!!

The route is mainly traffic free - we'll trundled through countryside, amazing views and some fabulous towns and cities in Holland. This ride is suitable for riders of all levels. We'll only ride at the speed of the slowest rider so no-one will have anything to worry about!  We give helping hands when required and as much encouragement as we think is needed!

We want to at least equal the amount of money we raised in 2008 for this event, a massive ask but we're sure that it's possible!
